Puppy Pre-School

Puppy Pre-School

There are many benefits to teaching your puppy to be well behaved at an early age. Young puppies are quite able to learn obedience skills, toileting behaviour and social boundaries. All of these things help make your relationship with your dog more rewarding for the years to come.

We provide an effective Puppy Pre-school program for all of the puppies that visit our clinic. With our positive learning techniques you will:

  • Develop an understanding of normal puppy behaviour
  • Learn how to read your puppy's body language and respond appropriately
  • Develop effective techniques for positive behavioural development
  • Learn important tips about walking in public areas
  • Understand the need for socialising your puppy
  • Teach your puppy some important 'do not' lessons
  • Understand important boundaries when playing together
  • Develop strong bonds between you and your puppy

The most important thing with dog training is to 'start early'. Waiting too long can allow behaviour problems to establish which then require more intensive training to overcome.

It is recommended to commence Puppy Pre-School between 8-12 weeks of age. So start today and call us about enrolling your puppy in our Puppy Pre-school classes.

A Word from Some Puppy Pre School Graduates

'Before going to Puppy Preschool at Horsham Vet Hospital with Jess, my pup Nyx was very shy with people and didn’t know much about respecting other dogs space. She would shy away from a strangers touch and jump all over dogs she met, this resulted in Nyx getting no nice cuddles and angry barks and bites!
At Puppy Pre-School our wonderful teacher Jess taught how to properly introduce Nyx to new people and new dogs perfectly! Now my pup sits nicely to meet new people and laps up the attention and pats. She keeps a respectful distance with new dogs until she knows if they want to play or not, and even comes when called EVERY time!
We also learnt stacks about how to prevent parasites of all kinds as well as cures for boredom and barking! And let’s not forget the importance of daily exercise, mind and body. Puppy Pre School with Jess has given me the building blocks for a happy and healthy relationship with Nyx that will last a lifetime.'

'We would highly recommend Puppy Pre-School to anyone who has a new puppy in their family. It gives the whole family a greater understanding of how to look after your new puppy, basic training and diet. It’s a great way to raise any concerns you may have. It’s also good for your puppy to interact with other puppies big and small.'
